A382 Closure: Latest Update from Devon County Council

Devon County Council has provided a further update on the ongoing works at the A382 closure. One week on from the previous report, the stabilisation works at the northern end of the site have now been completed. A new concrete wall is in place to protect the road, and a replacement timber fence has been installed above it, replacing the old rotten structure.

Excavation continues at the southern end of the site, where the team is preparing the ground for the next sections of the new retaining wall. The separate drainage works have also been completed, meaning fewer operatives and vehicles are now required on site.

DCC has noted that operatives are still encountering occasional trespassers, mainly impatient motorcyclists and individuals attempting to use the Wray Valley Trail as a cut‑through. Despite signage and ongoing efforts to deter this behaviour, some continue to ignore the closure and the pedestrian‑and‑cyclist‑only designation of the trail.

DCC expects to provide another update in around a week’s time, and the Parish Council will continue to share information with residents as it is received.
