Moretonhampstead Parish Council is the first tier of local government and the one closest to the community, serving Moretonhampstead’s residents, businesses and visitors. The Parish Council operates at a level below the District and County Councils and can help on a number of local issues, such as providing play areas and grants to help local organisations. The government has launched a review of its local government reorganisation programme, pausing work in 14 areas including Devon. Elections in May 2027 will proceed on existing boundaries.
St Andrew’s Churchyard has received a Bronze Award in the BRAMM Cemetery of the Year Awards. The council is proud of this achievement and asks residents to help us aim for silver or gold by keeping the churchyard free of plastic flowers and wind‑blown litter.
Devon County Council has confirmed delays to the A382 works at Pepperdon Hall Lane due to unforeseen ground conditions. The road is now unlikely to reopen on 28 August and is expected to reopen the following week under traffic lights.
DCC reports good progress on stabilisation and excavation works, with drainage now complete.
