Moretonhampstead Parish Council is the first tier of local government and the one closest to the community, serving Moretonhampstead’s residents, businesses and visitors. The Parish Council operates at a level below the District and County Councils and can help on a number of local issues, such as providing play areas and grants to help local organisations. Moretonhampstead’s precept will rise by 25% for 2026/27. This reflects rising service costs and preparation for future responsibilities, while still remaining below the Teignbridge average.
Dog fouling is a growing issue in the parish. There’s no Dog Poo Fairy to clean up, so owners are urged to bag it, bin it, and report problem areas to TDC. Public‑health risks and new poop‑bag holders highlighted.
A new welcome sign has been installed in the Churchyard, sharing its rich history with visitors. Thank you to Moretonhampstead History Society, our photo competition winners, the Church, and SJB Signs for helping make this community project possible.
